Gastroville is back to life

After some time off blogging, I have revived Gastroville. Vedat continues to publish his thought provoking and thorough reviews at www.gastromondiale.com. I will continue food bloggning at Gastroville but there will be no restaurant reviews. Well at least probably none. Instead it will be about gastronomy, great produce, cooking, chefs and people who defend great gastronomy, health and random thoughts on food and food related topics. There is a lot in the pipeline for the coming weeks and months.

Hello – just saw your comments on nutrition and diet. In case you have not seen, I recommend you have a look at Gary Taubes (NY times science writer) book “Good calories, bad calories” where he gives a detailed overview of the research on diets. Michael

@Michael: I have of course read GCBC by Gary Taubes. I think Taubes has made an important achievement and his book and his articles were indeed my introduction to how bad science on nutrition really is. I do however think there are many holes in Taube’s book and he leaves many questions unanswered. For one thing, he doesn’t cover inflammation. Also, he has no good answers to the fact that there are/were traditional populations that do not/did get the diseases of civilization despite high intake of high-GI carbohydrates. A fantastic source for nutrition and health is Stephen Guyenet’s blog http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com. Stephen seeks the truth. I will in due course write about health aspects on food preparations. I have many topics in mind.
